The Vendors
I enjoy being a vendor at a festival or other organized event. Being set up there on the main street in town or out in some field of thick grasses selling your wares. Watching as the masses pass by, some tossing you a look of intent until that tug is received to look at the pretty candles over there.
The Standers
Then, it never fails, someone in a group of people stops because their phone has vibrated or they spotted the same colorful candles over there and they have to inform everyone in their party to the relevance of the scented wax. But the one that holds the 10 gallon bag of kettle corn holds the flow of the group as it oozes down the block.
Then there are the small families that haven’t seen each other for the last 10 hours that have to stop and chat for at least 10 min, right in the middle of my booth frontage, so that now all that pass by have know idea what I’m selling and they are not going out of their way to push through standers.
If you have to chat about the morning news or school schedule couldn’t you choose the space in between booths or the open spaces near by ? Give us all a chance. We are only in your town for a short period of time and if you don’t care about us or the people that you live around stay home or go direct traffic maybe.
When Wild West Chili Mix comes to town I want all folks to have the opportunity to purchase that mouth watering, chili seasoning mix, that is destined to change all of those preconceived notions chili being nothing but a bowl of flames and torture.
Come on Standers, we’re just asking for an opening.
